The farm was involved in tests which were administered by die University of the Free State, to determine the bone-meat ration and the grade of fat density of carcasses.
Research was done, in collaboration with Dr Q.P Campbell, to measure the feed intake of different Dorper types and other breeding types, in order to determine the economic values.
Klipkoppies Dorper Stud was involved with research, in terms of quality of carcass and grade of palatability. These tests were done in collaboration with the ARC, the Meat Board, the University of Pretoria and the SADBS, at the research station of Irene near Pretoria. It was determined that lamb meat, produced on grass fields, contains alpha linoleic acid which prevents cancer, delays the aging of cells, lowers cholesterol, improves brain functions and strengthens the immune system in humans.
